Pit Bull Flower Power – SPCA of Wake County Edition

May 8, 2015

April showers really brought the SPCA some beautiful May flowers!  These dogs are blooming at the SPCA of Wake County with all of the love & care from the staff & volunteers. Now they are waiting to be picked and made part of a loving, forever family.

This month’s Pit Crew shoot was inspired by photographer Sophie Gamand’s Pit Bull Flower Power Project.  We contacted her a few months ago to ask permission to join her project with our own spin and showcase our adoptable pit bulls at the SPCA. She graciously agreed.

I wanted to take the photos outside with my 70-200mm for a great depth of field and keep the focus on the dogs.  We had a few obstacles.  The lawn crew was there. They are NEVER there the nights we usually have our shoots.  We were also racing against the weather and you can see the photos get a little darker as we go along. We had two more dogs left and the skies opened up!  We tried one under the overhang outside but the light was very poor.  We still were able to get a cute photo.  Then we used a backdrop inside for our last dog.  What a wonderful way to showcase the sweetness of these loving dogs!  To see more on this project check out #PitBullFlowerPower on social media sites!  To find out about how you can adopt one of these sweeties, visit SPCAwake.org.
