Gomer and Ellie – Raleigh dog photographer

Sep 17, 2015

It’s always exciting when clients add a new member to the family! David and Jennifer lost their sweet girl Thelma Lou last spring. She was 16 years old! I had the pleasure of meeting her and photographing the family the year before. Jennifer volunteers at the SPCA of Wake County so it didn’t take long for her heart to lead her to adopt again.

They are now celebrating a year with sweet Ellie.  Look at those ears and that sweet sweet face!

Jennifer says, “Gomer is a smart, sweet, gentle boy who wants to get along with everyone. And, like all Border Collies, he loves to have a job to do, like catching balls or Frisbees.  Ellie is a complete goofball who loves to play, especially with other dogs. She’s also a consummate squirrel chaser. She’s really good at settling down and is a great cuddler and kisser. She has come a very long way from the extremely scared dog that she was when we brought her home and is much more trusting of humans than she used to be.”

Just how far has this sweet girl come?  Jennifer and David said that Ellie would not leave the yard for quite some time.  They would put the leash on her and open the gate to the backyard.  They would sit just outside the gate holding the leash.  Overtime, Ellie learned it was okay to step outside of her safe zone.  She was shy at first when I arrived, but was showering me with some kisses by the end.  The best!

The couple addopted Gomer through Border Collie rescue after Thelma Lou ‘approved’ him first.  Now he is showing Ellie how to enjoy life in a forever home!

Gomer: Am I close enough? How about now?  Closer?
