Tenbusch dogs take over Durham – Durham dog photographer

Jun 4, 2014

I was so inspired from this shoot! I always love when my clients pick out their own shooting location! It’s always something personal that fits with their personalities and it gets me out of my normal scene! This downtown Durham location was just perfect for the Tenbusch family and their style! Plus, I do love a great urban setting! We were right next to a skate park and the dogs barely noticed. They were quite well-behaved.

I first met mom, Leann while volunteering as a photographer for Triangle Beagle Rescue‘s BeagleFest last fall. She was the best photo assistant ever! This awesome group is a foster family for the rescue and I love seeing all of the cute beagles that come in and out of their home.  I thought for sure I’d be photographing beagles with them, and then these two adorable dogs showed up! Oh I could just kiss those sweet faces over and over!

Leann also makes custom pet keychains and necklaces which I highly recommend for my clients who purchase the digital collection package! You can check out her work on facebook at You Had Me at Bark.

Here’s how mom describes the pups:
“We adopted Gibson shortly after we lost our beagle of 18 years. He and Isabell were both adopted from the SPCA of Wake County. Gibson was just so goofy and cute we couldnt resist him. We adopted Isabell a year or so after. She had been hit by a car and had quite a limp. We adopted her and fixed her all up. Now she can outrun any dog. Isabell is high strung, OCD, alpha female whereas Gibson is low key wants to be petted 24/7 and is a lover.”

My favorite shots are the dogs standing between the family with the sunset peaking through.  Especially the one where they are both looking the opposite direction!
