Claire turns one – First Birthday Cake Smash

Aug 19, 2015

To put this all in perspective…let’s look back one year ago! Well 11 months ago to Claire’s first month photo shoot! So tiny and petite and she is the same way today!   Now my ONE YEAR OLD GIRL: has has two bottom teeth, four teeth coming in on the top, can walk holding on to things, loves to dance and could stay in the pool all day long.

A quick catch up…Here are her photos from her ten month and 11 month photo shoots!  Personality to boot!

and 12 months! She is very excited to now be ONE!

I had the hardest time coming up with a “theme” for her first birthday party. Boy does Pinterest put the pressure on moms these days!

I found a template I had on hand for a Facebook cover collage and made my own invitation using the banners.  That was as close as I came to a theme, but I loved it!

I made my own matching banners with scrapbook paper and the always awesome and amazing Ashley Cakes matched the colors  and invitation to her cake!

One for the party guests and two smash cakes. One for the party and one for her official photo shoot (and ya know…just to make sure mom had plenty of cake to eat for the week after!)One thing that was extremely special was using my old highchair! My parents kept it and brought it down for the party.  I hung up some decorations my mom had left over from my baby shower above the highchair and the colors all matched perfectly!  My mother-in-law purchased the “ONE” letters and spray painted them as a surprise! You’ll see those later! Then it was time for her official cake smash photo shoot the next day!  I ordered balloons and reused one of the banners I had inside.  It was a pretty simple and easy set up on the side of the house where we did all of her monthly photo shoots.  My mom found the cute birthday set a few months ago by Mudpie.  I found the bib that matched at GreenPea in Cary!

Claire was much more interested in the balloons than the cake.  At her party, she was much more interested in entertaining the crowd than eating the cake. But hey…more cake for me!

Clean up time!

What an amazing joy this first year has been!  Thanks to my awesome clients for your patience as I’m still trying to figure out how to juggle it all!
