Bailey and Lindsey – Raleigh dog photography

Apr 26, 2013

Oh Bailey. Bailey. Bailey! Check out this six year old flat coat retriever. She is an independent pup, very confident in herself and just adorable. I donated a photo session last fall for a local dog rescue and Lindsey’s mom won it in a silent auction!  I was so excited to meet up with Lindsey and Bailey on the campus of her Alma Mater, Peace Collage (now William Peace University).  Lindsey says, “Bailey and I are very similar, she takes after me. We are best friends, I adore her and she secretly adores me. [We are] both very particular and love spending time together.”

The black and white photo below ended up being one of my and Lindsey’s favorites. Lindsey says her friends give her a hard time and say she “prances” when she walks. Lindsey says she always says Bailey prances when SHE walks! I think we have proof that they both have a little pep in their step! I just love how they look at each other in this photo.  Lindsey said it perfectly above that Bailey “secretly” adores her. Bailey kind of gives off an aloof air about her and an “oh mom” face in many of the photos, but you can tell she would never stray too far from Lindsey’s side.  They have a great balance of independence and co-dependance.I think this is such a strong image below. I always strive to take photos that capture personality and emotion. In particular, I always want that one photo in particular that says “this is us.”  I think that’s what this photo says below.  Bailey is safe and comfortable in mom’s arms. She knows she can step away and explore and mom will always be right there.  Plus mom never has to worry about Bailey running off. They both have this sweet unspoken understanding that they are always going to be there for each other. (but just in case Bailey should need a reminder, the next photo on the right says “mom is always boss!”)This photo captures Bailey in pure bliss! She had just gone for a wild run to burn off some energy and then rolled over in the grass afterward.  So cute and so Bailey! The best part of this session, making great friends!  I’ve been in Raleigh for two years, but still feel like a newbie.  Lindsey and I met for dinner last week and brought Bailey and Lily.  Next time, we’ll at least leave Lily at home. LOL
