Oh Ace. I mean. Just look at that face. It melts you doesn’t it? Ace was the winner of the Million Dollar Dog House photo contest earlier this fall! And safe to say he is the most talented dog in the world! He loves to wear all kinds of clothes and pose in all positions. But that’s not all folks…he can open the fridge, fetch a drink, and close the fridge!!! He no longer likes to get cans though after his tooth punctured one and sorta scared him! I could have just loved on Ace for weeks non-stop (or tried to trade him for Lily! LOL). The most amazing thing about Ace is his story! Desperate to stay alive as an abandoned puppy, he curled up in a pile of cow dung to stay warm. He was on death’s doorstep. But listen to mom Kristen’s story of how they came to be an inseparable pair:
“Back in 2010, I began working for an animal hospital as an animal care technician. I had lost my yellow lab about 5 months prior, so I was looking for a new family member (I have always had dogs growing up). One day animal control brought in this little white ball that was shaking and extremely sick. They had found him in Pittsboro laying in a cow pasture, barely hanging on. We found out that he had so many worms that he was anemic. He also had demodex mites, and a slew of other issues. They named him ‘Pittsboro,’ and each day we slowly watched him get better, even though there were times that didn’t look too promising. Eventually, he was out of the woods, and began to act like a puppy, giving kisses, chasing shoelaces, etc- and I fell in love with him. When I asked what the situation was with him, the doctors told me he was on his way to the SPCA of Wake County, as soon as he felt better and was neutered. Let’s just say that he never even stepped foot in the door of the shelter before I was signing adoption papers. I really felt that he needed special attention and boy does he! We have had many fun times, while also overcoming a slew of medical issues. (I think it was something every 2 weeks for over a year!) But fortunately, I was able to provide everything he needed, and ever since, each day- he finds a way to capture my heart all over again!”
