Zipper has been at the SPCA of Wake County for nearly four years waiting for a home. I first met him when I moved to Raleigh and started volunteering at the rescue in the spring of 2011. I immediately fell in love with Zipper. He always had a bright smile and lots of energy. He was also generally one of the best models during our Pit Crew photo shoots. Zipper was adopted once for several months and I think it was a good match. But if I remember correctly I believe his owner had to move and Zipper ended up back at the shelter.
Zipper is currently in foster care where he has an awesome foster mom. He thrives much better in a foster home than the shelter environment, but that also means he doesn’t quite get the exposure as if he were at the shelter for people to see during their visits. (although he does have a pretty awesome poster showing off his photos and good looks in the hallway so people know he is available!)
I’ve been anxious to see him and get some updated photos to help promote him. Not only does Zipper have an awesome foster mom, but he has charmed one of her neighbors who is now Zipper’s foster neighbor/dad and helps walk the Zipmeister. He was able to meet me at the shelter to photograph Zipper the other week. (He’d adopt Zipper, but has dogs already).
Zipper’s foster mom says:
It took a while for him to trust me enough that he could show his true personality–since he was in the shelter for about 2 years before he came home with me. He is playful, obedient, loving and patient. He will do anything for a treat!! His playfulness starts the action at playtime and he gets all of my dogs running around the yard..and he is fast! He loves to walk, although he is still pretty reactive on leash…we take him where he can relax and not worry about meeting other dogs. BUT…once he gets used to another dog in the house (I regularly foster other grown dogs) he is a good friend. When someone decides to get snarky he’s the first one to back away. And he is very fond of the ladies…he likes blondes!
This sweet six-year-old pointer-pitbull mix is hoping to spend Christmas finally with his forever family. Could it be with you?
