The Pit Crew is an initiative of the SPCA of Wake County’s Behavior Team. It’s a group of trained volunteers working to repair and rebuild the reputation of the American Pit Bull Terrier in our community. The SPCA of Wake County takes in thousands of “at risk” Pit Bulls each year who may not otherwise have had much of a shot at happy, long lives.
The Pit Crew is divided into four subcommittees, each working to improve the dogs’ chances of being adopted. The Pit Crew takes these homeless dogs to weekly specialized obedience classes, on field trips, and to play dates to help them learn excellent manners.
To help show off our pitties, we also do themed photo shoots once a month. We decided to do a wedding theme for June and took it to another level if I do say so myself. Rosebud and Max were are perfect “bride and groom” and we had plenty of great wedding guests. We love having this opportunity to show off our adoptable pups. Below, far right: Bianca! Bianca was the “flower girl.” She is a sweet girl who looooves to give kisses. She has been at the shelter for more than a year and is currently in foster care. She is deaf, but the Pit Crew and her foster mom have been working hard to teach her sign language commands!
