Zilla was a long-timer at the SPCA of Wake County. She came to the shelter from a hoarding situation that was actually featured on Animal Planet. The show contacted the SPCA to help take in some of the many dogs that were being kept by a man in NC. He cared a lot for his dogs, but just had too many to properly provide for. When volunteers arrived, Zilla (she was called Godzilla then) was chained to a tree. People with the show were very intimidated by her and warned the SPCA volunteers to be very very careful with him. I can only imagine how I would react to strangers, especially spending my life tied to a tree. Well, Zilla joined us at the SPCA and became a favorite of the Pit Crew. Scared of this dog??? NO WAY! Zill would walk into the room for the glamour shots with his tail tucked between his legs and would just look for somebody to cuddle with. We knew it would take the right person to provide a forever home for Zilla and we found her!
Melissa LOVES Zilla and had really helped him come out of his shell. She brought him back to the SPCA last weekend for a visit. Zilla just stood there as people, volunteers and staff surrounded him and rubbed and kissed him. In the past, he would have been overwhelmed by the crowd and very very timid. Just check out one of his very first Pit Crew photos (we dressed him up in a dinosaur costume…) and his “after” photos! Thanks Melissa for keeping us updated on our boy and thank you for giving him a great home!
