Phew! I’m back. I had planned to get a blog post up during my four-day trip to NYC to cover the Westminster Dog Show. But it was so busy and there were so many photos to take that I just posted a few on facebook. What an experience. I didn’t know what to expect.
For the most part, a lot of the dogs are owned and “handled” by their owners and live at home and are normal family pets that happen to be very “well bred.” But some of the big names in the show world own the dogs and then pay a handler to train and travel the country competing in dogs shows. These dogs are definitely spoiled. I’m a huge fan of rescues and mutts, but do recognize the place for purebreds. I just hope that there can be an end to puppy mills and the public can be more educated about finding a responsible breeder.
